The American Crisis

In this year of 2026, the 250th Anniversary of the establishment of The United States of America, an endemic crisis has become a mortal infection within the Union.
These words and those that follow are not hyperbolic. Conditions now exist for any one who is paying attention and who understands some basic history to see and understand the factors currently in play for what they are and what they portend if the current course is not corrected.
The American crisis has become chronic and lethal. This crisis is historically unique but not singular in nature. This crisis is not solely beholden to one factor or one person but a multi-faceted state of affairs which have been long in the making.
Now is the time to address this crisis head on and take immediate action. To not do so, is to court a dangerous precipice accompanied by potentially lethal and wide ranging global implications as well as to welcome the unnecessary end to The United States as it has endured through history thus far.
One can identify however the major and overriding contribution to this crisis which is a lack of national unity. Within the American population there is deep disunity in terms of shared ideological values as they pertain to the Nation as a whole.
Although it is accurate to say that the United States never really had an ideologically unified populous, there had been enough “common ground” to run, protect and grow the country to a certain high standard and cooperative, communal understanding. To be “an American” absolutely meant something to the majority of the population thereby forming a more or less American consensus of spirit and mind.
But this meager set of shared identity “values” has, as of today, been totally lost.
And because this statement IS true, for all to see, it places the very existence of America (The United States) one step away from the rubble heap of failed and lost Nations of history.
Demonstratively, this loss and disunity of a shared “American” identity and agenda has put the country's political direction into complete chaos.
Other facets of this crisis include a crisis of judicial ethics and civil moral standing, of an internal erosion of citizen's domestic security, peace and prosperity and of deteriorating international relations with long-time allies. Sadly, the nation's character and its historic reputation as THE global bastion for equal and human rights, liberty and freedom has suffered great damage.
The shining light on the hill...HAS been extinguished.
To pretend this declaration of crisis is otherwise, is to be willfully ignorant, grossly uniformed or to be actively complicit in the crisis, or...a combination of all three.
The multitude of factors which comprise The American Crisis of 2026 have been fomenting and developing for many years – due to processes which have substantially complicated explanations. But since 2016, the singular imperative which has accelerated the processes of crisis has been the active motivations, efforts and policies of the 45th and 47th Executive administrations.
However, if one could point to a single aspect which could have circumvented, mitigated or ameliorated this tangled morass of crisis', one could confidently point straight to the U.S. Congress.
As the entity which is SUPPOSED to be the voice of the people, the U.S. Congress (by design) is supposed to be the branch of government which – via its substantial check and balance power – has final determination of what America is at home and what America does abroad.
Alarmingly, its most glaring dereliction during the past year 2025-2026, is the U.S. Congress demonstratively surrendering and ceding its core, relevant powers to the Executive branch and failing to act on the people's will to its Constitutional charge.
Today, it is widely perceived that this ceding of power is not due to professional incompetence, but due to the intense climate of political fear and harm to a public servant's reputation via the pressure fostered by the Executive branch. Further, the tactics now being employed by Executive practices has raised a dangerous atmosphere of dog whistling and the enabling of a climate of physical fear upon these same servants. The combinations of these factors are strangling democratic representation in real time.
Since 1854, but really starting after the Civil War, the two major political parties of the American political system had more or less exercised a degree of cooperation and achieved a substantial record of success in fulfilling their duties as the people's representatives. Though at times a contentious cooperation, the American political parties duly executed the will of the people.
Also since 1854, the parties in augmenting their ideologies - transforming and evolving with the ever growing and diverse American populace, persevered under every kind of threat - be it social, cultural or political - both national and international.
Importantly, during its modern history, the two parties had been in a (more or less) mutual concord in the shared beliefs of what comprised America's character in ideological terms as well as displaying a cooperative adherence to America's traditional Constitutional apparatus.
But today, all these historic qualities and traditional norms have evaporated.
Within each party there is endemic dysfunction, corruption and fragmentation. Externally, they are hostile and antagonistic to each other. The two parties have, as of today, mutated into diversionary, reactionary and self-defeating opponents. They oppose not only each other but oppose conducting any effective or rational discourse in the service of the people's will. These statements are not disputable as they are evidently demonstrative by the Congressional Record.
As Congress reflects the make up of the Nation's populace, there can be no doubt as to the Nation's fragmentation as a body of voting citizens. There is no unity. There is not enough of anything that could be called an American consensus...at all.
From this, it follows that this lack of ANY national American consensus is the root cause of the fatal disease within us. Therefore, addressing this specific symptom is where we must start to have any hope of a continued United States in a form that not only begins to remedy the other symptomatic issues but that could...one day...truly exemplify the content of the Nation's foundational documents.
An additional and major corrupting force working against the people's will, is the blatant and enormous financial poisoning of congressional integrity and structures by the purchasing power of and over those elected to serve.
Both parties are openly influenced, bought and owned by the highest bidder and are primarily beholden to said highest bidder. Money in politics is nothing new, but the sheer amount of “buying capital” in-play today can potentially turn the head of even the most credible or stoic patriotic soul. The political feeding trough of money and “other considerations” is limitless and the greed of those partaking of the trough is insatiable. Being as there is no accountability or repercussions for such behavior...why stop?
The hard truth to swallow is of course that such a practice MUST stop - to have any chance or hope whatsoever in giving authentic power back to the people.
As a result of these chronic and malignant wounds, over the past thirty years, the parties have increasingly and repeatedly failed in tangible and meaningful ways in effectively managing the affairs brought before Congress. This branch of government has failed in securing the precepts of administrative and social domestic health, safety, prosperity and tranquility of the citizenry. In parallel to this, the other casualty of Legislative failures is America's enormous and multi-faceted infrastructures.
Because bipartisan fragmentation, dysfunction and self-interested corruption have all but neutered and eroded any practical execution of imperative duties, the established electoral American political apparatus has failed on a colossal scale – a failure never before seen in the 250 years since the Nation's founding.
This is not a theory nor mere conjecture, this state of affairs is a statistical and well documented set of facts experienced and witnessed by millions of citizens over generations.
Further addressing this national mortal crisis of 2026, as the American Congress (the People's voice) is the primary mechanism by which the other two branches of government are kept in balance and on track to serve the will of the Nation, the endemic failures and corrosion of the integrity of the Legislative branch has enabled and allowed significant collateral damage to also infect the Executive and Judiciary branches.
My fellow citizens, the fallout of all of this PREVENTABLE cancer is the people's great suffering in the forms of the infringement of Constitutional rights, severe economic impairment, a loss of hope for a secure future, the fragmentation and hateful antagonism of citizens to each other and the imminent risk of a point of no return in terms of viable paths to any rectifications of these issues.
The fact that the United States government, the so called “protective hand” of the wealthiest country in the world in terms of financial wealth, productivity, market power and global leadership potential, cannot provide the majority of its citizenry an environment in which to, not just thrive - but to have any reasonable ability to afford the most basic of practical living standards, or to secure sound and affordable healthcare...or offer any REAL hope of achieving a modicum of prosperity in the short or long term, IS and SHOULD BE UNACCEPTABLE to ALL citizens.
ALL of this...is an endemic and criminal dereliction of duty by Congress over decades.
ALL of it...in reality...is a cumulative betrayal of The Constitution of The United States of America by its own citizens.
The American administrative architecture and system is diseased - as it continually demonstrates such gross incompetence and inability to address the multitude of important issues and problems affecting its populace.
These issues...and many more, have mortally crippled The United States of America in every facet of its internal infrastructure and to its international reputation.
The system IS broken.
ENOUGH !
In order for The United States of America to have any remaining chance of not disintegrating as a nation - thus ending the 250 year old experiment in representative democracy - there must be a realignment, refurbishment and a refashioning of the mechanisms by which the voting citizenry can express their voice as a unified collective - in good faith.
By the drafted tenants of The Constitution the three branches of government MUST be forced to make good on the promise that America functions for the people, by the people...ALSO, IN GOOD FAITH.
There must be a fresh vision and new methods by which citizens of The United States can begin to rectify, in an exigent manner, the imperatives which currently threaten the Nation. Let this new approach exist as a platform, one available to any American citizen or resident who understands what is at stake and might share the vision, philosophy , ambitions and goals of such a cause.
Finis.
